Terms of Use
Last updated 17 September 2026
These terms cover your use of Tasted. By using the app you're agreeing to them. Tasted is currently in beta — see the note about that below, because it's a real caveat and not boilerplate.
This app is in beta. It is early software given to a small number of people for testing. It may have bugs, it may lose data, and features may change or disappear. Please don't treat Tasted as the only record of anything you'd be upset to lose.
Who can use it
You need to be at least 13, and you need to give accurate sign-up details. Your account is yours — don't share it, and tell us if you think someone else is using it.
The one rule that actually matters: write about meals you had
Tasted only works if what's in it is true. So:
- Only review places you've actually eaten at. Don't invent visits, and don't post a review generated by an AI as though it were your own experience.
- Don't post reviews on behalf of someone else, and don't pay for or accept payment for reviews.
- Say so if you have a connection to the place — if you own it, work there, are related to the owner, or the meal was free or sponsored, put that in the review.
- Don't copy other people's reviews or photos from other platforms. Post your own.
Australian Consumer Law treats misleading reviews seriously, and so do we. Fabricated or paid reviews will be removed and the account behind them closed.
What you can't post
- Anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, or sexually explicit
- Anyone's private information, including other diners or staff
- Spam, advertising, or automated content
- Anything you don't have the right to post, including other people's photos
- Content that impersonates someone else
Reporting and moderation
Every review, list, and profile has a Report action, and you can block anyone. Reports are reviewed — during the beta, daily. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms, and we may do so without notice where something is seriously wrong.
We won't remove a genuine negative review because a restaurant asked us to. Honest criticism of a real meal is exactly what this app is for.
Your content stays yours
You own what you write and photograph. By posting it you give us permission to store, display, and share it inside Tasted according to the visibility setting you chose on it — and nothing beyond that. We don't licence your content to anyone else, use it in advertising, or sell it. Delete it and that permission ends, other than for backups already taken and any copy retained in a moderation record.
What Tasted isn't
- Not a safety or dietary service. Flavour tags, cuisine labels, and reviews are people's opinions. Never rely on them for allergies, intolerances, or any medical or dietary requirement. Ask the restaurant.
- Not a guarantee about any restaurant. Opening hours, addresses, and other venue details come from public data and from users, and can be wrong or out of date.
- Not a booking service. Anything you arrange with a restaurant is between you and them.
Accounts and ending things
You can delete your account at any time in Settings — it's immediate and permanent. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close yours for a reason other than a serious breach, we'll tell you why.
Availability
We don't promise the app will be available, or that anything in it will be preserved. During the beta in particular we may change, pause, or shut down the service. We'll give notice where we reasonably can.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes any guarantee or right you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't legally be excluded. Where it's permitted to limit our liability, we limit it to re-supplying the service — which, since Tasted is free, means our liability to you is limited accordingly. We're not liable for what other users post, or for anything that happens at a restaurant you found through the app.
Changes to these terms
We'll update the date at the top when they change, and tell you in the app if a change is significant.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
